Sculptural + Functional Furnishings
2010-Present

This work seeks to investigate the growing gulf between end products and their terrestrial origins. By highlighting my material, wood, in a state of transtition, this work shines a light on the energies and processes embodied in the objects that surround us.

Captive Bowls
2013-Present

Using only discarded materials harvested from dumpsters and burn piles, this series seeks to investigate the growing gulf between end products and their terrestrial origins. Defying traditional woodturning conventions, these bowls are simultaneously a before and after image. Contrasting the raw, muddied state of the discarded wood with the refined surface of its interior, these Captive Bowls seek to engage the user/viewer in a conversation about process and the hidden potential within unlikely materials.
